DIY BANDEAU TOP & TURBAN

I was looking for a quick sewing project for an old maternity top. I love sewing but long projects over a couple days can be overwhelming, especially when you want to wear a custom creation now! A DIY Bandeau Top & Turban set is the perfect project to start in the morning, then wear by the afternoon!

At the end of this post, I share a few bandeau top patterns I found on Etsy. If you want to make your own pattern, continue reading for a few tips!

I created the quickest sewing pattern for a DIY Bandeau Top. I drew the rectangle shape directly on the fabric. Then I drew out the rabbit ears shape for the knot. I cut the maternity top vertically from shoulder to hem and cut another fabric for the lining.

The length I cut was 56 inches including small 2 front knots. I would suggest 2x your chest measurement for a larger front knot! The total width, including 1/4 seam allowances, was about 10 inches.

I sewed right sides together leaving two inches open for turning right side out.

I like the contrast lining fabric! What do you think? It was so easy to pair this DIY Bandeau Top with a white button-down shirt and jeans. I love that this was a quick & fun upcycle sewing project!

For the scarf I used the back panel of the maternity top. I thought I would finish the raw edges, but I was running out of time, and left them! It works though!

Here are a couple bandeau top patterns I found on Etsy:

I’m excited to upcycle more clothing and create more unique bandeau tops! What fabrics would you wear? Let me know your suggestions in the comments. Thanks for reading! 😊
