Hey friends! Last Eid I wore this stunning geometric sequin dress! It was the perfect dress to match the Gem theme of the boys’ thobes and the Gem theme of our Eid photoshoot!

Fabric
This stunning fabric was gifted to me from a designer I worked on a few projects with!

The secret to this dress is that, I didn’t sew this dress at all! It’s a total no-sew.
For this no-sew sequin dress, you’ll need 2 yards of fabric. Fold crosswise, so that the selvedge edge (raw edge) of the fabric is vertical. Sequin fabric will usually have a 2″ raw edge strip of mesh. In this case, it’s black and you can see it in this photo!
Holding the two edges at the top, twist over each other at the top of your chest, then knot behind your neck. A couple knots leaves it secure!

Or, you can twist the fabric twice at the front, then knot behind your neck (this one is on my instagram reel).
Or, twist and knot over your shoulder for a one-shouldered style. There are several possibilities!

The wall decor is a mix of treasures from Morocco, Spain and Modern Eid!

Shop the ModernEid Calligraphy tapestry, gift wrap and gift tags! I’m obsessed with how sophisticated the Calligraphy collection is, and how perfectly it matches our decor. Have you purchased any of ModernEid decor yet?!
Styling
I wore a black velvet skirt underneath, a bodysuit, Haute Hijab chiffon hijab, and gold earrings from Express. In the rush of getting dressed, I forgot to apply contour! I love how the Rare Beauty Liquid Pinch Blush looks here! Eyes are PAT McGrath and a tiny base of Natasha Denona Bronze Palette. Lips are Mac satin + Maybelline Gloss on top.

See me in action wrapping this dress on my Instagram Reel and the TikTok is embedded at the end of this post!

The boys’ thobes are my own designs from my brand, YFT Thobe Shop. The thobe is traditional kaftan style garment!

My daughter’s dress if from Ivy City Co.! It’s a fave.
